home alone

Drew went on a weekend-long fishing trip this weekend, so I've been home alone! I used to hate it when he would leave for the weekend (literally, I would bawl my eyes out-I know it's a bit strange), but thankfully I'm over that and am able to truly enjoy doing absolutely nothing! Yesterday I literally sat on the couch and watched 2 movies back-to-back. I highly recommend "No Strings Attached" with Kutcher and Portman for you PMS-ing chicas locas ladies out there! (wink)

The one thing I did accomplish was giving myself a mani/pedi. Supposedly the new Pirates of the Caribbean selection is "what's hot" in nailwear this season. So naturally I splurged on this pastel green (I'm sure Drew is just going to love it! hah!).

the necessities

for you O.P.I fanatics (Steph), this one's called ""You don't know Jacques!"

...and ""Mermaid's Tears"

and the motherload...matte finish creates this rustic look that I actually really like (supposedly it's not a new concept per the rep at Ulta, but my Real Simple magazine just had a photo of the matte-finish, so as far as I know it's the cool thing to have!).

yes, I took a photo of my toes (hammer toes, that is!)...it's embarrassing

But, with this as the end result, I think it's worth it!
(you can just imagine me with my foot up on the toilet seat, hunched over, almost falling into our non-tempered-glass bathroom window! Ouch.)

yoplait-headed squirrel

There are plenty of things that make me laugh hysterically, but I'm certain nothing could top the "yoplait-headed squirrel"!! I pulled in my driveway and from behind the trash container comes this...

yes, I thought about sicking maupin on it...

...then I thought about grabbing the container on my own,

but realized there wasn't anyone around to take me to the hospital when I get rabies!

and then the cute thing decided to do a dance for me!! It's like a flamenco dancer!

De Vries Tuin

Our garden is coming along just great! We finally planted everything this weekend. Drew came home the other day with some reed grass, dianthus, some lilies, and other flowers that are supposed to be "super resilient just in case my wife forgets to water them a couple days" he says to the master gardener (thanks alot hun for the vote of confidence).

We had to support our motherland flag colors and language!

This is the flower hub. The chickens will be right behind that, so they'll get great fertilizer!

tag-team

Allison and I went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. We returned to a super hot dude in my apple tree! Drew pruned about one-third of our tree with his ladder and lopper. He almost fell, so I jumped in to keep it sturdy (and take a peek up the ladder-wink!)

Maupin getting some shade. After getting hit by 5 branches, you would think she would learn her lesson!

Another project today. Raking up the twigs from yesterday and laying some mulch around the fence.

In January, Denver Waste takes christmas trees if laid by the road. They then create mulch and have "mulch giveaway weekends". We took advantage of it today and filled Drew's truck. One more thing done...plenty to go.

flies and pups

Brad came to pick up Kota who we had watched last weekend.  They're checking out Drew's "super exciting" gift from cousin John. It has something to do with fly-fishing, but I couldn't tell you what it is. I just love that the guys get a kick out of it! Had to capture the moment.

 Kota Dog

We always talk about Maupin's sad eyes...this captures it perfectly!

summer projects & my husband

There is something that has lit a fire under Drew's booty and I'm pretty sure he's sick of looking at a nasty yard. So, we've he's been working so hard to get his projects done. This weekend he took on the task of getting rid of some giant stumps in our backyard, which leads us to the next project...woodchip removal!

yes, my man in some ray bans...

 Rawr! Yep, lookin' good hun.

california: part 2

While visiting California last weekend, I got to spend an afternoon with Nicole and Katie. It was especially special because I was able to surprise Nicole and go to her Bridal Shower. Needless to say, she was shocked.
